Hello, this is Sungjo Hong from Harriot.Last spring, with our 'Ki-won' watch, we received an incredible amount of support and interest. At that time, I promised we were preparing our next timepiece, and today, I'm excited to share an update on that journey.We previously only showed you the case and strap, but now the final sample of Harriot’s first diver watch, themed after the guardian of the East Sea, Dokdo, is complete.We’ve prepared three distinct colors: Deep Blue: Reflects the color of the deep, blue sea around Dokdo. Silver-Gray: Resembles the rocks and gray stones of Dokdo. Jade: A personal favorite of mine and a color many of you loved in our 'Ki-won' watch. Each color captures the essence of the sea and the island, offering a different charm. Case & BraceletThe watch features a classic diver-style case paired with a rice bead bracelet to evoke a vintage diver aesthetic. The bezel has a unique two-tiered, step-bezel structure, adding depth and a classic feel. In addition to its primary function of tracking dive time, the bezel is engraved with the azimuth and the location of Ulleungdo. Specifically, it marks the 87.4 km distance and direction from Dokdo to Ulleungdo, the closest Korean land. DialThe most striking feature of the dial is the wave pattern inspired by the sea around Dokdo. This texture is not machine-stamped but hand-carved, creating a unique and deeply tactile surface. The Harriot logo is at the 12 o’clock position, while the two islets of Dokdo, along with their latitude and longitude coordinates, are placed at 6 o’clock. The applied indices enhance the three-dimensional feel and are filled with BGW9 luminous paint, ensuring clear visibility in the dark. The seconds hand is designed with alternating inner and outer lines to avoid monotony and naturally draw the eye toward the center of the dial. Hands The hour hand is arrow-shaped, not only for precise time-telling but also to symbolize its connection to the bezel's azimuth. All hands are finished with BGW9 lume, combining functionality with design. A Hidden Message The true fun of this watch is revealed when you shine a UV flashlight on it. A 'Dokdo' logo and an arrow pointing toward Ulleungdo appear on the dial, connecting to the arrow on the bezel. The 87.4 km distance marked on the bezel isn't just a number; it symbolizes how close Dokdo is to Korean territory.We chose to hide these details for a simple reason. A watch is worn daily, and while its meaning may be profound, an overt design can feel overwhelming. We believe that these subtle, hidden details convey a deeper and more lasting message. A Watch with a Story With this Dokdo Diver Watch, our goal was to create more than just a tool. We wanted to make a timepiece that lives and breathes a story on the wearer's wrist.The design is now final, but we're still fine-tuning some parts to ensure the highest quality. We plan to begin production once all preparations are complete, but there is still a long way to go.We’ve poured our hearts into preparing this, but what do you think?
